FAQs
Get the answers you need, and ask questions you don’t see.
What do you provide, exactly?
GO TEAM connects homeowners with pre-vetted, high-quality contractors in your local area for repairs, remodels, and emergency services. We bring 20+ years of experience to oversee the vetting process and ensure you’re working with the best.
Is this available year-round?
Yes. Homes don’t take time off, so neither do we!
What makes this different?
GO TEAM is funded by homeowner subscriptions, not by advertising dollars from competing contractors. Because contractors can’t pay for top placement, we’re free to refer the best available companies. You, one of our subscribers, gain immediate access to the area’s top specialists. Feel more confident in your hires. Solve emergencies faster. Ensure long-lasting results.
What makes this exceptional?
With GO TEAM, you’ll connect with a knowedgeable representative who sorts through your questions and concerns. Contractors are pre-vetted (prior to your project) by our career tradespeople, who know what to ask and what to evaluate to ensure their readiness. The due diligence will be more robust than what you, the homeowner, or AI could perform on the fly (especially in moments of more urgent needs). Pre-vetted contractors are then matched and will be highly motivated because of how they heard about your needs (from us). They’ll be further along in what’s needed because of the notes, attachments, and other scope work you’ve prepared. You’ll become an ideal project they’re eager to take on.
How do I benefit from this?
1. No more lengthy research projects to find the right contractors. We don’t leave the hard work TO you — we do the hard work FOR you. 2. Better teams working on your home. We refer contractors based on their specialties, so they’re perfectly-matched to projects. 3. Lower investment. When contractors do the work they want, in the area they want to do it in, you save money. 4. Fewer problems. When project managers and teams do the work they’re best at, it inherently goes more smoothly.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. Please visit our Subscriptions page to review current deals.
What trades do you cover?
GO TEAM can refer contractors from 16 trades and over 100 specialties. These include kitchen, bathroom, basement, garage, roofing, siding, windows, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting, flooring, and many more project types. For a complete list, visit the Trades & Specialties page, under the What We Do menu.
Interior and exterior projects?
Yes. GO TEAM refers contractors to handle almost everything, inside and out. This includes roof, gutters, additions, finishes, electrical, landscaping, and many other projects. For a complete list of interior and exterior options, visit the Trades & Specialties page, under the What We Do menu.
Will they handle small jobs?
GO TEAM can match for all—from quick repairs to full renovations. If it matters to you, then no job is too small.
What about design services?
Yes, many of them do. If you’re planning a remodel or addition, then GO TEAM will match you with contractors who can offer design input or partner with design professionals. For a complete list of design services we cover, visit the Trades & Specialties page, under the What We Do menu.
How are contractors vetted?
GO TEAM vets contractors using rigorous quality and customer-service standards. This includes verifying licenses, insurance, any requisite bonding, as well as validating reputation in the moment of our referral, quality control, and communication standards. We ask probing questions. How do you ensure proper project performance? How competitive is your pricing? When problems arise, how do you deal with them? We also weigh subscriber reports on performance via our Contractor Assessment form.
How do I receive a referral?
Here’s the 3-step GO TEAM process: 1. Complete a match request form where you explain your needs. 2. We’ll call if there’s anything that’s unclear so you’re prepared for your contractor match. 3. We identify the right-fit pre-vetted pro(s) for you, ensure they’re available, send your notes, and include any attachments. We provide you with all you’ll need to connect and receive estimates.
What’s the cost per referral?
GO TEAM referrals are unlocked by monthly subscription. Bronze subscribers receive 12 referrals per year. At $15 monthly, each referral is therefore worth $15. Silver subscribers receive 24 referrals per year. At $29 monthly, each referral is $14.50. Gold subscribers receive 48 referrals per year. At $69 monthly, each referral is $17.25. If the math seems strange here, that’s because Gold subscribers receive additional benefits beyond just their referrals. Check our subscription packages for these details. For each additional referral needed beyond what your subscription stipulates, it’s $15 each.
Are referrals by zip code?
Yes, generally. GO TEAM provides hyperlocal referrals so you’re only working with contractors who serve your area and understand local codes and conditions. Keep in mind that some contractors serve larger local areas than others, especially when they’re more than less specialized or their services are more in demand.
Are there any hidden fees?
There are no hidden fees with GO TEAM. It’s $15 for each additional referral beyond your annual subscription’s limit, optional and disclosed upfront (per our terms).
Will financing be an option?
Yes, we can shortlist contractors who offer financing options for their projects with you. If this is a focus, then let your GO TEAM representative know when you connect.
Can you match me quickly?
It takes a matter of minutes to become a GO TEAM subscriber. 1. Select a monthly subscription level (bronze, silver, gold) at this website. 2. Make a payment. With that, you’re a subscriber. The match process can begin immediately when you submit a match request with us online. The turn time is based on your subscriber level. BRONZE: 48-hour response, SILVER: 24-hour response, GOLD: 24/7 priority access. Any subscriber can call our emergency hotline 24/7/365.
Can you assist with timeline?
Yes and no. Yes, we can help you consider and account for time because that’s a big part of setting parameters and scope of work. We’ll ask that you weigh and prioritize quality. vs. speed vs. price. It’s a balancing act. No, we can’t set a project timeline with you because we’re not the ones to do the work for you. That’s the job of your contractor match. A big part of our matchmaking is prioritizing three facets: quality vs. speed vs. price. If you have a set timeline, then that will be accounted for in your match.
Is energy efficiency a focus?
Yes. GO TEAM refers contractors for insulation, window replacements, HVAC upgrades, smart home installs, and much more. For a complete list of specialties in energy efficiency, visit the Trades & Specialties page, under the About menu. If energy efficiency is important to your project, then you can add those notes to your match request.
Can we talk permits or code?
GO TEAM can provide general education, but your matched contractor will be the one who speaks to specific requirements in your jurisdiction. Rest assured that our contractor matches can’t be vetted without being licensed, permit-compliant, and more. If you have permitting questions specific to your project, then you can add those notes to your match request and we’ll be sure the contractor(s) receive them for consideration.
Why shouldn’t I just Google?
Online searches produce research projects, which are overwhelming and often lead to unqualified or unreliable contractors. GO TEAM removes the guesswork and saves you hours of research by doing the vetting for you. Google results are heavily influenced by advertising dollars, SEO, and other marketing endeavors — not on project match. GO TEAM matches are based on fitting a project’s specific needs and homeowner priorities to a contractor’s specialty, location, and other factors to create a more productive and valued partnership — regardless of advertising dollars.
Doesn’t ChatGPT refer pros?
AI like ChatGPT won’t conduct due diligence, interview contractors, learn what a company does best (or the type of work its people like to do), follow up after projects, and more. GO TEAM isn’t just a vetting service. We don’t simply retrieve and relay what worked for others and tell you it will also work for you. We don’t copy/paste information from company websites and call it right-fit. We do the fitting. Every project and situation can be different. GO TEAM matches projects to contractors carefully and with integrity, without any influence from advertising dollars.
Do you refer in emergencies?
Yes. If you have a plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or structural emergency, then we can refer someone quickly. GO TEAM provides an emergency hotline for these calls, 24/7/365. Call 1-888-GET-HELP.
What if I need a team vs. a pro?
No problem! GO TEAM can assemble a team or add tradespeople to an existing effort, as needed, for more advanced projects. We can also refer a general contractor who coordinates it all.
Use this with friends or STRs?
No. Referrals are for your verified home address only, and not for use on a friend’s property or a short-term rental property. This ensures fair use for all GO TEAM subscribers. Each property requires its own subscription.
Will I get multiple estimates?
Every contractor brings a slightly different approach to how they estimate work. Some provide options (multiple estimates, each tied to a specific scenario or approach). Others will give you the one estimate you’ll need based on the submitted scope. GO TEAM’s pre-vetted matches will provide a right-fit estimate in a timely manner, once they connect with you. You can have as many matches as you’d like, but our goal is to match you to the one right contractor for your needs.
Is construction savvy needed?
No. GO TEAM matches you to professionals you can trust, even if you don’t know how to use industry jargon. We do require you to describe your needs, provide any attachments (images or docs), and prioritize what you value (quality vs. speed vs. price). An incomplete or inaccurate match request won’t lead to the best fit. Preparation is always an important first step. The second step of our process will assist you in getting organized for a work scope so your contractor match(es) can respond with a plan and estimate(s) to go forward.
How do I explain what I need?
Describe what you see, hear, or smell. For example: “There’s water under my sink,” or “My furnace makes a loud clunk when it starts.” GO TEAM will triage with you and help match you with someone who knows what to do from your observations.
Can we weigh pros and cons?
Yes and no. Yes, GO TEAM can help you clarify any issue you’re having — or organize any task you need completed, which then preps you for the estimation process with the contractor match we provide. No, because we’re not going to do the work for you, and you’re the one making the hire, we don’t get in the middle of any estimates, plans, or more that your contractor match provides to you.
How best to navigate upsells?
We help you get organized at the time of your match request. We refer you to a contractor based on what we learn. If an estimate from this contractor later includes something outside the initial scope, especially if it’s based on a new discovery, then use your best judgment to add it to or omit it from your project. Our contractors are matched, in part, because of their honesty and transparency.
Will the work be guaranteed?
No. By Virginia law, GO TEAM can’t guarantee the performance of the professionals we refer. They are separate entities vs. being employees or otherwise operating exclusively in support of our business. However, by design, our vetted referrals will dramatically increase your prospects for a successful project because of the planning, fit, and specialization.
Is the referral guaranteed?
Based on the situation as we understand it, GO TEAM will stand by its matches. We can, however, provide a replacement referral at no charge — if you’re unhappy with a contractor’s performance.
How do I rate performance?
The contractors we match are vetted independently and prior to your project. If something has changed in their team, process, service, or otherwise, then we need to know about that. To report how things are going (or have gone with your contractor referral), please email us directly or login to your account and complete the Contractor Assessment form.
Do you follow-up on projects?
No, but you can report how things are going or have gone with your contractor referral. Please email us directly, or login to your account and complete the Contractor Assessment form there.
Do you repeat any matches?
Possibly. If you’ve had a great experience with a contractor, and they’re also capable of handling another need you have (especially when you weren’t aware of all they could do the first time you hired them), then we’ll match that contractor again. GO TEAM matches solely based on your current needs and contractor availability, which may end up being a contractor match you received previously.
Where do I leave a review?
Feel free to leave a review for GO TEAM at Google, Facebook, or Yelp.
